Song #7: Tom Waits’ “Who Are You”

This is a brilliant song — but it’s the most incisively caustic send-off this side of “Like a Rolling Stone.”  That being said, there’s an insidiously uneasy quality about this performance by a man who appears near the end of his rope — as he sits on the desk of an elementary school classroom.

So many questions.

For levity’s sake, here is a pair of cute girls covering “Innocent When You Dream”.  It’s worth examining the marriage proposals on the comments section; my favorite is, “I’m a gladiator, but you melt me”:

Extra bonus:

Album #2: Neil Young + Crazy Horse’s “Everybody Knows This is Nowhere”

The initial plan was to do this entirely with outdoor covers, but I dropped it halfway through because I enjoyed the “Down by the River” cover so much…

1. Cinnamon Girl

2. Everybody Knows This is Nowhere

3. Round and Round

4. Down by the River

5. The Losing End

6. Running Dry

7. Cowgirl in the Sand

Song #5: Muse’s “Time is Running Out”

I highly recommend checking out this guy’s other performances — AC/DC’s “Big Balls,” Nirvana’s “Rape Me,” and the Butthole Surfers’ “Pepper” were strong contenders.  A real treasure trove.
